When Ryan Brucato was only 12 years old, his father opened a custodial stock account for him through Charles Schwab. This single act launched a lifelong interest, some might say obsession, with the management consulting and investing industries. Brucato nurtured his interest throughout youth and into his college years. At 23, the concept for his first major business venture, RB Milestone Group, came to him through a dream… literally.
Brucato flourishingly built that dream into a reality and that reality into a very successful and profitable management consulting firm. But he didn’t stop there. RB Milestone Group was followed by a concept for a single-member family office and venture capital fund called EMBR Capital. These dreams have guided his efforts for the last 11 years of his life.
Founding and Growing RB Milestone Group LLC
Ryan Brucato wholeheartedly pursued his dream of founding RB Milestone Group in 2009. While most young startup ventures take long months or even years to begin to churn and turn a profit, Ryan Brucato had RB Milestone Group operating in the black within its first four months of business. One reason for this quick and early success was due to Brucato’s effort to minimize overhead in the company’s early days. By keeping RB Milestone’s costs at a minimum while focusing on growth, Brucato created a workable foundation from which he immediately began to see a steady revenue stream. This business strategy has served him well having averaged RBMG around 40% YoY earnings growth since inception.
In addition to Brucato’s solid effort to minimizing costs, he attributes the success of RB Milestone Group to the excellent team that he assembled to serve clients. Their business mentality is to under-promise and over-deliver. By keeping expectations to a realistic minimum, their clients are consistently pleased with their experience when RBMG services far surpass that which was initially expected.
Launching EMBR Capital LLC
EMBR Capital is a long fund that was established in 2012. While incredibly successful, this single-member family fund continues to be managed by Ryan Brucato himself from his office in Greenwich, Connecticut. Its strategy is to generate profits through the appreciation of asset value over a long period of time. While RB Milestone Group continues to capture Brucato’s attention through his role on its advisory board, managing EMBR on a daily basis consumes the majority of Brucato’s professional time. In fact, since 2017, he has made more than 80 investments through EMBR that have extended across six continents. He prefers to focus his professional attention on specific industries including telecommunications, technology, renewable energy, cannabis, healthcare, and diversified natural resources. Artificial intelligence and machine learning are increasingly gaining his attention as well and will most certainly play a part in EMBR Capital’s future growth.
Looking Back at Successes and Failures
Ryan Brucato was a young man when he launched RB Milestone Group, but he recollects that failure at that point in his life was never really made an option. His drive to succeed propelled him forward. Over his many years of experience with both ventures, he has experienced significant market downturns, cyclical changes, and other varying factors that have called for a change in initial strategies. These robust professional experiences continually remind Brucato to take a well-rounded approach in reviewing prospects. He spends more time researching industries, their rooted histories and, from that, making major fundamental decisions on the shaping and growth of his ventures. Ryan Brucato is the first to admit that this only assists in heightening the probability of success.
In addition to gaining the professional respect of his industry peers, colleagues and clients, Brucato has been noted by many publications over the years including BusinessWeek, Fox Business, The Financial Review, Gold & Minerals Gazette, Resource Investing News, HazMat Magazine and Bloomberg.
Making Time for Family and Personal Well-Being
Ryan Brucato often speaks to the idea of taking time away from your professional life to recharge and reset.
Today, Ryan Brucato is a family man who makes ample time for his wife and their two young sons each day. In fact, Brucato asserts that his private time with his family in the evening is one of his favorite parts of the day. He also recognizes the importance of self-rejuvenation and care. Brucato takes time to maintain his physical health daily. He attends CrossFit classes early in the morning at a gym directly across the street from his office. He’s also a passionate skier and participates in triathlons when time permits.
